Spokane Police Officer Placed on Administrative Leave

A Spokane Police Officer was placed on administrative leave after an incident early this morning. A family member of the officer showed up at the officer’s home with the victim of an apparent abduction. To ensure the integrity and transparency of the criminal investigation, the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office was asked to assume the lead role in the investigation.

This morning, May 18th, 2017, just after midnight, Spokane Police received a report of a possible abduction in the area of 1000 E. Courtland. Witnesses reported multiple suspects entered a residence and forcibly removed a female from the location. The suspects fled with the female in a vehicle. Officers responded to the scene within five minutes and attempted to locate the suspect vehicle. They were unable to locate the vehicle at that time.

At around 1:00 am the officer’s family member, an involved male and the victim showed up at the officer’s house. The officer, recognized the victim was injured, transported her to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries then contacted a police supervisor.

Two males have been arrested reference this incident. This investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Check at 456-2233.

Once the criminal investigation has concluded an Internal Affairs investigation will take place to determine if any policy or procedure violations occurred. Any further information about the criminal investigation will be released by the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.
