Standoff in North Spokane ends peacefully with suspect in custody.
On 05-24-17 at a little after 5:45PM, SPD received information that a wanted subject was at a residence in the 500 block of E. Princeton Ave.
Steven Martin, age 36, had an outstanding felony warrant for eluding a police vehicle. Additionally probable cause existed to arrest Martin for 5 counts of Stalking-Domestic Violence.
SPD patrol officers arrived on scene and observed Martin. Martin saw officers and quickly retreated into the residence. Officers attempted to convince Martin to exit the residence peacefully, but continued efforts to get Martin to cooperate went unheeded.
Information was obtained that Martin may be in possession of a firearm. Due to the nature of his charges, and the possibility of him being armed, SPD SWAT personnel along with negotiators were utilized.
At a little after 7:00PM Martin was taken into custody by SWAT team members without incident. No citizens, suspects, or officers were hurt during the incident.
The 500 block of E Princeton was briefly shut down to traffic, it is now reopened.
