Stabbing at House of Charity

Arrest made in Monday’s stabbing in front of the House of Charity.

Downtown Neighborhood Conditions Officers (NCO) following up on yesterday’s stabbing incident were able to locate the suspect in front of the House of Charity today. The suspect was identified as thirty-four year old, Dennis P McElyea.

Probable cause was developed to arrest McElyea.

McElyea was charged with Assault 1st degree and he was booked into the Spokane County Jail.

Spokane Police received a report of a male who was stabbed in front of the House of Charity at 32 W Pacific. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arriving on scene and the male victim is being treated at the hospital for his injuries.

Officers were dispatched to a reported stabbing today at 12:28pm. Officers arrived on scene within minutes and found a male victim who had been stabbed outside of the House of Charity at 32 W Pacific. The male victim was treated by medics and transported to the hospital for treatment. Officers are following up on leads for the suspect, at this point it is early in the investigation and a description of the suspect may be released at a later time.
