DUI collision in Northeast Spokane injures two, including child.

On 04-08-18, shortly before 7PM, SPD responded to a two vehicle collision near the intersection of Wellesley Ave and N Morton St. The vehicle determined to have caused the collision was driven by an adult male. The other vehicle was occupied by an adult female and six-year-old child. Both the adult female and child were injured and transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver determined to have caused the collision was identified as 23-year-old Hayden T. Martin. The investigation showed that Martin was under the influence of alcohol and drugs. Martin is in custody for vehicular assault, with additional charges possible. Martin also had an unrelated warrant for his arrest.

SPD takes enforcement of impaired driving seriously. In this case the safety of an innocent child was jeopardized, and we are lucky more serious injuries were not sustained. Please help us keep our streets safe; encourage those who are under the influence to avoid getting behind the wheel, and report impaired drivers to law enforcement.
