Downtown Precinct Officers arrest a convicted Felon who had a stolen firearm, drugs, and stolen property on him at a motel in the 100 blk of S Washington.

This morning, July 21, 2018, just after 9:00am, Downtown Precinct Officers were being proactive and conducting foot patrols in high drug activity areas. While DT precinct officers were in the 100 block of S Washington walking through a motel, they observed a male, Justin B Dustin (39), who they knew to have an active felony warrant for his arrest. Officers immediately contacted the male who tried to discard his backpack and in the process broke a glass window inside of the motel. A search of the backpack revealed a stolen handgun, heroin, methamphetamine, several hundred dollars in cash, and a stolen iPad. Officers were able to locate the victim of the stolen iPad and return it to them.

Downtown Precinct Officers focus on quality of life issues, specifically targeting nuisance properties and areas in order to reduce crime in downtown Spokane. This is an example of proactive police enforcement which is proven to reduce crime in areas throughout the city.
