SPD responds and uses Narcan to save lives at two separate incidents of apparent drug overdoses in under an hour.
SPD is first on scene to respond to a medics call around 3:30AM on June 12, 2020 near the 1000 block of W Mansfield. Narcan was administered by officers within five minutes of the initial call, saving the subject’s life. (#2020-20099149)
Shortly after that incident, SPD is first to respond to another medics call around 4:15AM near the 1600 block of N Lincoln, again administering narcan within moments of the call. A total of four doses were used on the individual between SPD and the fire department to help him regain consciousness. (#2020-20099161)
