Domestic Violence suspect exits apartment after a brief standoff and is taken into custody without further incident, after on duty SWAT officers respond with an armored vehicle.

On December 1st, 2020 around 11:00pm SPD responded to a Domestic Violence call in an apartment complex in the 3200 block of E. 44th Ave.  The suspect, Gary Adams (29) has an extensive felony record involving guns and assault.  The complainant stated she had heard a male and female arguing, followed by thumping noises and a dog barking.

As SPD officers arrived they saw Adams standing outside the apartment, he looked at them, then turned around and ran back inside.  He then began closing curtains preventing officers from seeing what was going on inside.

A perimeter was set up as officers began investigating the call.  It was determined there was probable cause to arrest Adam. SPD began making calls into the apartment and using a loudspeaker to contact Adams however he was uncooperative.  A search warrant was being sought to gain entry into the apartment and arrest Adams for 2nd assault/strangulation DV.

Members of SPD SWAT who were working patrol and an armored vehicle were utilized to assist in the incident.  Prior to the execution of the search warrant the suspect came out of the apartment and was taken into custody without further incident.  He was booked into the Spokane County Jail.
