SPD arrests male for carjacking committed minutes after he was released from jail

On 02-13-2021 at 10:28PM hours, SPD officers responded to Browne’s Addition regarding a carjacking. Officers contacted a 16-year-old female whose vehicle had been taken. The victim told officers a stranger had approached her, indicated they had a gun, and demanded the female’s car.

Officers began scouring the city for the vehicle. A little before 1AM an astute patrol sergeant located the stolen vehicle near Francis Ave. and N Nevada St. in northeast Spokane. The driver of the vehicle, 31-year-old Marcus Goodman, was detained. He was quickly identified as the person who had robbed the victim a couple hours earlier.

As officers investigated Goodman’s activity they became aware Goodman had been released from jail on an unrelated felony charge at 10:08PM. The investigation showed in 20 minutes Goodman had traveled the roughly 1.5 miles from jail to the incident location in Browne’s Addition and robbed the juvenile victim.  

Goodman is a convicted felon. He was booked back into Spokane County Jail for the felony charge of Robbery 2^nd Degree.
