The Spokane Police Department is investigating the robbery of a guest at a hotel in the 9600 block of North Newport Hwy.
Today, April 8, 2021, just before 6 a.m., officers from the Spokane Police Department (SPD) responded to a hotel in the area of 9600 N. Newport Hwy. Multiple callers reported hearing several males and females arguing and possibly fighting. Callers stated a gun might be involved. Shortly thereafter, callers reported hearing what they thought was a gunshot. Information was received that the participants had fled the hotel, and some were getting into a vehicle in the parking lot.
An SPD officer saw a group get into a black SUV and drive out of the parking lot. Officers stopped the vehicle a short distance away and was getting little cooperation from the occupants. Eventually, officers removed and detained everyone from the vehicle. A female occupant was arrested on an outstanding warrant. No occupants from the vehicle were arrested regarding the robbery at this time.
Officers at the hotel located a shell casing inside but did not find anyone that had been struck by a gunshot. Officers interviewed the victim and confirmed a robbery had occurred. No arrests have been made yet.
