Firearm discharged during domestic violence incident in North Spokane

On 05-09-21 a little after 9PM, SPD was alerted to a domestic violence incident near E Providence Ave and N Perry St in Northeast Spokane. Initial information was that a firearm had been discharged inside the residence.

Officers arrived on scene and were able to safely detain the involved male outside the residence. The female victim was located and found to be physically safe. The investigation showed that the male was in possession of a firearm, an altercation occurred, and during that altercation the firearm was discharged.

A 48-year-old male was arrested for Assault 2nd Degree (DV) –a felony, as well as unlawful possession of a firearm 1st degree. The subject is prohibited from possessing firearms due to his criminal history which includes sixteen previous felony convictions.

SPD takes intimate partner investigations seriously due to the propensity for on-going and escalating violence. If you or someone you know is the victim of domestic violence, please report it to the police. The YWCA provides extensive resources for victims and can be contacted 24/7 at 509-326-2255.
