Update 7/31/21:

Jones has been located and is in-custody.

Acting on tips from the community, SPD patrol officers began searching the Southwest Downtown area for Jones. Around 9:15PM Jones was located by officers near W 5th Ave and South Howard St. He was taken into custody without incident.

SPD would like to thank the community for providing valuable information regarding Jones’ whereabouts.

Custody of Jones will be transferred back to the Department of Corrections as soon as practical.

Level 3 sex offender sought after fleeing community housing unit

The Spokane Police Department and Washington State Department of Corrections is currently seeking 61-year-old Brian Scott Jones. Jones is a level 3 sex offender who absconded from a community housing facility in the 1200 block of N Lincoln St a little after 5PM. Jones defeated his electronic monitoring device and his whereabouts are unknown.

There is probable cause to arrest Jones for escape, and the Department of Corrections is currently working to have a warrant issued. If you have any information about the whereabouts of Jones, you are asked to call 911 or crime check at 509-456-2233

Attached are two photographs of Jones. He is a white male, approximately 5’8”, 217lbs, with hazel eyes and grey hair. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and blue sweatpants.
