UPDATE: Suspect arrested in N Hamilton shooting
38-year-old Ivan Lopez-Gutierrez has been arrested for 2nd degree murder.
Preliminary investigative information indicates the suspect and victim were acquainted. An argument and brief scuffle occurred between the two inside a bar, and the altercation moved to the parking lot. It appeared the two were going to physically fight again before Lopez-Gutierrez shot the victim.
No additional suspects are being sought. The investigation remains active. The medical examiner will release the name of the deceased victim at a later date.
Also, a correction to the original release: the suspect was contacted on the South Hill less than twenty minutes after the incident, not an hour-and-a-half later as the original release stated.
