SPD investigating shooting which left one person dead, another injured
On 12-18-22, just after 1AM, SPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at an apartment complex in the 200 block of E Wedgewood Ave in north Spokane. Two shooting victims were located and transported to a local hospital. One victim has succumbed to their injuries.
The Spokane Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit (MCU) immediately began following leads in an effort to identify and locate the suspect. Just before 2PM, a 16-year-old male was taken into custody, without incident, by members of SPD’s SWAT team and the Violent Crimes Task Force (VCTF). No other suspects are being sought at this time.
The suspect has been arrested for Murder 2nd degree and Assault 1st degree. The investigation is on-going and additional charges are possible. The identity of the deceased will be released by the Medical Examiner’s Office at a later date. Anyone with information about this incident, who has not spoken with investigators, is asked to call crime check at 509-456-2233.
