SPD makes arrest in July homicide
On July 24, 2022 at 825 am, Officers responded to the 1400 block of W. Boone for a death investigation. The caller, later identified to be Corbin J. Hood, (29) reported he had found his girlfriend deceased.
Due to the suspicious nature of the death, SPD Major Crimes Unit (MCU) detectives immediately began an investigation. In late November, the final evaluation by the Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death was homicide. With the cause of death determination, MCU detectives were able to use the information they had gathered to establish probable cause to arrest Hood.
During the investigation, Hood left the state of Washington. Last fall, Hood was arrested in Florida for unrelated charges. Hood is currently serving time in a Florida corrections facility and extradition proceedings are pending. It is currently unknown when Hood will return to Washington to face the charge of 2nd degree murder.
The victim’s name will be released by the medical examiner.
