SPD arrests father for daughter’s death

On July 3, 2021 at 4:00 pm, officers responded to the 3000 block of E. 30th Ave regarding a 14 month old female not breathing.  Medics quickly arrived on scene and pronounced the child deceased.

SPD Major Crimes Unit (MCU) arrived on scene and processed the residence through a search warrant.  Through the course of the investigation detectives learned the father of the child, Ryan J. Beamis (27), left his two children in their locked bedroom for more than 16 hours without food or water.  It was also determined a dresser inside the bedroom fell on top of one of the children.

The medical examiner determined the cause of the child’s death was traumatic asphyxia and the manner of death was undetermined.  After several months of thorough work by MCU, detectives requested an arrest warrant for Beamis.  In April 2022 detectives determined there was probable cause to arrest Beamis for manslaughter.  On January 12, 2023 detectives obtained a signed warrant and booked Beamis into the Spokane County Jail for 2nd degree manslaughter.
