Spokane Police investigating fatal collision in Downtown Spokane

On 9/6/2023 at approximately 630pm, Spokane Police responded to the intersection of S Maple St and W Fourth Ave for an automobile-versus-pedestrian collision.

Upon their arrival, officers located an adult male and an adult female pedestrian in the roadway with critical injuries. They were both emergently transported to an area hospital. Despite medical personnel’s efforts, the female succumbed to her injuries. The male is still hospitalized with critical injuries.

The identity of the female will later be released by the Spokane County Medical Examiner.

The involved driver in the collision was not injured, stayed on scene, and was cooperative with law enforcement. At this time, neither speed nor impairment are considered factors in the collision.
