One Dead, One Injured, In Early Morning Shooting

Update 9/8/23:

Spokane Police have connected a man arrested in a shooting on Wed. 9/06/23 as the suspect in a separate shooting earlier that day.

Major Crimes detectives developed probable cause to arrest 19 year old Abraham Evaristo-Valderas in the shooting of two people on Colton St. in Northeast Spokane in the early morning hours Wed. Evaristo-Valderas is charged with one count of 2nd Degree Murder and one count of 1st Degree Assault in that case.

Additionally, Evaristo-Valderas is charged with one count of 1st Degree Assault for a shooting later on that evening.

The suspect was arrested and booked in the Spokane County Jail following the second shooting.

He is being held on ­­­­­­­­­­­­­more than a million dollars bond.

The investigation into both shootings is ongoing.

Original Release 9/6/23:

One person dead, one injured, in early morning shooting

On 9-6-23, just after 3AM, SPD patrol officers responded to an encampment in the 6100 block of N Colton St in Northeast Spokane on a report of a shooting.

Subsequently, two adult male shooting victims were located. Despite life-saving efforts, one victim succumbed to their injuries at a local hospital. Another victim is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Major Crimes Unit detectives are actively investigating. Further information will be released as appropriate.
