SPD’s Violent Crime Task Force (VCTF) and Patrol arrest a man wanted for DV assault, discovers drugs and guns in the process

On 5-18-24,  the Violent Crimes Task Force (VCTF) was attempting to apprehend a suspect where probable cause existed for 3 counts of assault – all domestic violence related. Additionally, the man had an outstanding no bail warrant for Reckless Driving. The VCTF coordinated with SPD patrol officers and determined the suspect’s location. Officers followed a vehicle the suspect was in to a storage facility where they were able to take him into custody for the DV charges and the warrant. As officers investigated further, they could see what looked like a large quantity of cocaine in the vehicle. Patrol locked down the vehicle and the storage unit, obtained search warrants, and charged William M. Dunigan (23) with multiple offenses after discovering guns and drug sale material in the storage unit.

Dunigan was arrested and booked into the Spokane County Jail on 2 counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, in addition to the DV charges and outstanding warrant. Dunigan has 4 prior felony convictions - two for 1st Degree Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, one for 2nd Degree Robbery and one for 3rd Degree Assault.

The search of the vehicle and storage unit uncovered 2 pounds of cocaine, drug scales and drug sale materials, guns including an AR-15 with removed serial numbers, and cash.

SPD is dedicated to apprehending the most prolific offenders and removing guns and drugs from our streets. This case is a great example of the VCTF and patrol officers working together to keep the people and streets of Spokane safe.
