Suspect booked and released from jail, commits another crime before he even leaves the Public Safety Building campus, and is booked back into jail within minutes of being released

On 7/20/24, an SPD officer sitting outside of the Spokane County Jail noticed a male being released from jail. The man was observed scanning the parking lot when he saw the officer in his marked patrol car. The man approached the patrol car in an aggressive manner, stared down the officer, then banged on the window. It was clear to the officer, the man was not motioning for help, rather trying to start a confrontation. The officer motioned the man away. He eventually walked away and to a nearby unoccupied patrol car, continuing to stare down the officer, then began pulling on the car door handle and motioning to the officer to exit his vehicle. After calling for backup, the officer exited his car and informed the man he was being detained.

Denis M. Vasquez (33) was booked into the Spokane County Jail on a charge of 2nd Degree Attempted Vehicle Prowling. At the time of this writing he remains in jail on a $500 bond.
