SPD makes arrest in regard to string of North Spokane armed robberies

On August 23rd, 2024 at just after midnight officers with the SPD SWAT Team and the Violent Crimes Task Force (VCTF) took Joshua R. Stricker (22) into custody for multiple counts of 1st Degree Armed Robbery at an apartment near 700 W Cora.  The robberies began on July 19th at a business in the area of 2200 North Monroe.  This particular business was a victim of several robberies (7/19 & 8/21) investigators have tied to Stricker.  Additionally Stricker was linked to another armed robbery in the area of 2500 W Boone that occurred on August 13th

Due to the fact the crimes involved a firearm, multiple specialty units responded to the Cora location.   Hostage Negotiators (HNT), Air Support Unit and the SPD Explosive Disposal Unit (EDU) were on scene to assist SWAT and VCTF.  After learning Stricker was inside an apartment, officers surrounded the location as HNT attempted to establish communication with Stricker for hours with no success.  Officers additionally used PA systems near the apartment to attempt contact, but were again met with no response.  Investigators applied for and were granted a search warrant to enter the location.  Due to the extreme safety issues of the investigation, chemical agents were inserted into the location.

Stricker exited the apartment shortly after and was taken into custody without incident.  He is currently being held at the Spokane County Jail.  The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be forthcoming.
