Today, 08/19/24, at 9:40am Patrol Officers responded to a report of a shooting at a house in the 1100 block of W. Augusta Ave. They arrived on scene within 2 minutes to find a male victim with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. The male called 911 himself and reported he had been shot by his mother’s boyfriend. Officers rendered medical aid to the male until medics took over, eventually transporting the victim to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
During the investigation officers learned a witness heard two people arguing in the house. The suspect then reportedly fled in a truck immediately after the shooting which police later located but the suspect was not in the truck. The truck was seized for evidence and at this hour, the suspect remains at large. Officers developed probable cause to arrest the suspect for 1st Degree Assault DV and 1st Degree Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. This is an active, ongoing investigation.
