3rd suspect from 2022 homicide pleads guilty to 1st Degree Murder, sentencing set for February 14th

On January 31^st, 2025 Randy E. Slone (30) pled guilty to 1^st Degree Murder, Unlawful Imprisonment, gun charges and was sentenced to 36 years for his role in the death of Andy Hernandez on October 23^rd, 2022.  On that day, Hernandez was found deceased on a walking trail in West Spokane by a passer-by.  Detectives from the SPD Major Crimes Unit (MCU) responded and the investigation began.  As detectives worked tirelessly to unravel what led to this violent death, it was found three suspects were involved.  John Birgen pled guilty to 1^st Degree Murder, Unlawful Imprisonment and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm on January 9^th and was sentenced to over 39 years in prison. 

Larren Parker pled guilty to 2^nd Degree Murder and conspiracy to commit 1^st Degree Kidnapping for her role in the murder in May 2024.  She will be sentenced on February 14th. 

The sentencing will bring closure to the case and justice for the senseless death of Andy Hernandez.
