On June 20th, 2025 at 2:34pm a Spokane Police Officer observed a motorcycle driving recklessly near Lewis and Clark High School. As the officer attempted to stop the motorcycle, it continued driving at a high rate of speed, illegally passing vehicles. Due to the dangerous actions and speed of the fleeing vehicle, the officer did not attempt to follow it. Roughly two blocks ahead of the officer, the motorcycle collided with another vehicle at 4th and Stevens. Citizens that observed the collision, stopped to help the operator of the motorcycle who was on the ground in the intersection.
Despite lifesaving efforts by citizens and responding officers, the male operating the motorcycle died at the scene. Detectives with the SPD Major Crimes Unit (MCU) responded to assist with the investigation.
