Recently, members of the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) served a search warrant in the 2600 block of North Freya. The search warrant yielded a large quantity of drugs, money, firearms, and explosives. The explosives were found to be a foreign military hand grenade, a training bomblet that was once part of a cluster bomb and a modified firework. Due to the presence of the explosive material, members of the Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit (EDU) responded to safely remove the explosive items. EDU later rendered the items safe at a separate location.

At the completion of serving the warrant, the following was taken into evidence:

  • $255,000.00 in cash
  • 63 firearms, 3 of which were stolen
  • 1 pound of fentanyl powder
  • Approximately 5 pounds methamphetamine

SIU is still following up with this investigation and criminal charges are pending.
