Update 8/26/2025: Arson Suspect Remains in Custody After Courts Set 50K Bond

The suspect in the string of arsons set in the Downtown area on August 21st remains in custody after the courts issued a $50,000.00 bond after first appearance. Troy Silk was contacted in the area of the fires by responding officers. Silk was initially booked into the Spokane County Jail on unrelated arrest warrants. Investigators worked tirelessly to locate evidence and video and on Friday August 22nd, formally charged Silk with three counts of 2nd Degree Arson. From the outset, he was a suspect in these fires, and detectives moved carefully to ensure the charges were supported by thorough investigative work.

Original Release:

In the early morning hours of August 21st, 2025 SPD patrol officers responded to a series of fires in the downtown corridor. Three separate properties located in the 400 block of West Main, 400 block of West Riverside and the 300 block of West Spokane Falls Boulevard were damaged by intentionally set fires.

Patrol officers worked diligently to secure evidence and were able to identify a person of interest. On August 22nd, Major Crimes Unit Detectives (MCU) were able to secure the needed video footage from surrounding businesses and arrested Troy A. Silk (45) for 3 counts of 2nd Degree Arson. Silk was already in custody at the Spokane County Jail at the time of his arrest for unrelated crimes.
