The Spokane Police Department continues with its endeavor to curb the theft issue that affects merchants/stores in the Spokane area. Last week, detectives with the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) and the SPD Air Support Unit conducted a theft emphasis at multiple stores. From Safeway to Lowes to Hobby Lobby, multiple arrests were made throughout the day.

A total of 17 subjects were arrested for crimes ranging from Theft, Fugitive, Animal Cruelty, warrants and drugs. One subject was arrested after being the suspect in a theft at two locations only blocks away from each other. Detectives with SIU are in constant contact with local businesses following up on thefts. One officer is assigned to forwarding all felony charges as those investigations are completed.

SPD would like to remind community members that this theft emphasis continues. If you witness a theft or have information that would assist in an investigation, please contact Crime Check at 509.456.2233.
