In the Spring of 2025, the Neighborhood Resource Officer (NRO) program was revived thanks in part to the Community Safety Sales Tax initiative that was approved by Spokane voters. Three officers were assigned to the NRO Unit in March with the plan to add additional officers in the future. In January of this year, a fourth officer was assigned to the unit. Officer Dylan Pavlischak is the newly assigned NRO for the Downtown area and will be based out of the SPD Precinct facility located at 111 N Wall.

NROs work with the community to improve the quality of life in the neighborhoods in which they are assigned. These officers will help bring about positive neighborhood change by collaborating with and utilizing resources from different government agencies, businesses, and community members. They will also act as liaisons to their assigned areas for recruitment and community outreach efforts. NROs are based out of SPD Precinct facilities.
