Major Crimes Detectives are actively investigating a deadly shooting that claimed the lives of two individuals in north Spokane. Around midnight on February 5, SPD officers responded to an apartment in the 900 block of East Cozza after 911 received multiple reports of gunshots in the area. Upon arrival, officers located two deceased adult males inside the apartment.

As the investigation began, detectives learned the name of a person of interest in the shooting. The male suspect was contacted by detectives in a nearby apartment and detained without incident. Detectives found he had head injuries requiring medical attention and arranged for his transport to a local hospital. Based on newly obtained information, detectives released the person of interest from custody. Additional evidence collected by detectives suggests this was an isolated event and there is no danger to the public.

The names of the deceased will be released by the Spokane County Medical Examiner. More information will be released as warranted.
