On March 9th, around 11:30 pm, Spokane Police Officers were called to the area of 2300 E. Sanson. A 911 caller reported people outside brandishing guns and informed dispatch he observed them get into a Chrysler 300.
SPD’s drone unit located the vehicle and advised officers over the radio it was traveling westbound. The vehicle eventually came to a stop near N. Normandie St. and W. Nebraska Ave.
SPD officers activated their emergency lights and approached the Chrysler 300, attempting to contact the occupants. The vehicle fled from police through the neighborhood. After briefly attempting to stop the vehicle, officers quickly disengaged, due to safety concerns for the community.
As the Chrysler 300 continued to drive through the neighborhood, SPD’s drone unit kept visual of the vehicle. A short time later the vehicle struck a Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputy’s patrol vehicle that was parked in the area, causing minor injuries to the deputy.
The male driver of the vehicle was observed exiting the vehicle and fleeing on foot. SPD officers located the man nearby, identified as 20-year-old Zamarius Wilder, and arrested him for Attempting to Elude and Vehicle Hit and Run with injury. Wilder was booked into Spokane County Jail.
This incident is still under investigation at this time. The Chrysler 300 was seized pending a search warrant and further charges may be pending.
