No injuries after garage fire in northeast Spokane

At approximately 4:40 p.m., the Spokane Fire Department responded to the 3700 block of E. Fairview Ave. for a reported detached garage fire. A large smoke plume could be seen from several miles away.

Upon arrival, crews reported a two-car detached garage with heavy fire involvement. The fire was extinguished within approximately 10 minutes with no reported injuries to civilians or fire personnel.

The fire caused significant damage to the garage and its contents along with heat damage to the outside of the adjacent home. Fire crews remained on scene for approximately an hour to mop up and ensure the fire was out.

The fire remains under investigation by the Spokane Fire Department Special Investigations Unit.
