At approximately 1:47 pm yesterday afternoon, the Spokane Fire Department (SFD) responded to the 100-block of West Gray Court for a report of a possible brush fire.

Initial reports from Spokane Fire Dispatchers stated a grass and brush fire approaching a multi-family structure. SFD units arrived just minutes after dispatch and reported roughly a one acre fire burning in grass, brush and trees. The fire was located in a section of wildland-urban interface between a large apartment complex and multiple single family residences.

Two structural engines and two brush trucks working in coordination attacked the fire from multiple angles bringing the fire under control within 10 minutes. The affected apartment complex was quickly checked for fire and smoke extension to ensure all occupants were safe.

The fire was confined quickly and did not extend to any structures. Six fire apparatus along with 19 firefighters responded to fight the fire.  The cause of the fire is under investigations by the Spokane Fire Special Investigation Unit.

There were no reported injuries to firefighters or civilians.
