Saturday, Nov. 21, 10:58 PM, the Spokane Fire Department (SFD) was dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 1900 Block of West Knox Avenue. The initial 911 report indicated a possible basement fire with heavy, acrid smoke throughout the residence.

The first company arrived in three-minutes and reported smoke showing from the address side of the residence. With the coordination of a first alarm assignment, the structure was searched for victims, and hose lines were stretched to the basement to locate and extinguish the fire. The firefighter's efforts successfully contained the fire on the floor of origin. Firefighters searching for victims used a methodical examination of the premises and found no trapped or missing persons (ever wonder what it looks like? Live footage from another agency engaged in a similar activity here)

The two badly burned adults (one male and one female) were rushed to a trauma center before the SFD's arrival by private car. The adult male was immediately transferred to Harborview, and the adult female remains in care at a local hospital. The information shared thus far is preliminary and subject to change as the afternoon continues. Investigators have been processing evidence, interviewing, and gathering more facts all morning. A subsequent media release will occur if meaningful information becomes available or if the patient status changes.
