Friday's shift finished up with a total of three incidents involving serious vehicle collisions on I-90. The first incident occurred near 4:30 PM on I-90 Eastbound before the Sprague exit. The crash resulted in three injuries, one listed as serious. It required a full complement of fire apparatus and emergency vehicles from the SFD, AMR, Valley Fire Department, and WSP to manage safely.
Nearly an hour later, near the Freya Exit, a tractor-trailer was involved in another collision that included several cars and extended the backup of traffic through Spokane for miles. The victims' initial injuries were described as minor; however, the victims were forcibly pinned by wreckage and had to be mechanically extricated.
The final incident occurred at 8:14 PM near I-90 and Altamont and reportedly was a multiple vehicle collision with at least three cars involved. All of the occupants were safely restrained. Despite the damage, all of the victims involved declined to be transported to the hospital for treatment.
