At around 10:13 AM, Spokane Fire Department (SFD) was dispatched to the 1200 block of E. Sprague for a reported motor vehicle accident (MVA).
Information relayed to SFD dispatchers was that an adult female was entrapped by a chain-link fence post that had possibly been impaled in her chest. Additional resources were immediately dispatched to include the SFD Technical Rescue Team. Once on scene, crews discovered a 1.5-inch metal fence post had penetrated the front windshield of the vehicle and entrapped the patient. The patient had been lightly impaled by the fence post. SFD crews were able to disentangle the patient from the pipe with extrication techniques and discovered it to be not significantly penetrating.
AMR transported the patient to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
