Sunday, March 7, at approximately 11:20 AM, the Spokane Fire Department (SFD) and a Fire District 8 Engine Company, through automatic aid, were dispatched to the 3100 block of East 37th Avenue for an apartment building on fire. 911 had received a report of smoke and flames inside an apartment.

Firefighters arrived in four minutes to find smoke coming from the 2nd floor window of an apartment. Upon entering the apartment, fire was discovered in an upstairs bedroom. Firefighters rapidly searched the apartment for victims. All occupants had safely exited the building before firefighters arrived.

Fire crews extinguished the blaze quickly, preventing extension of the fire past the bedroom. The apartment sustained smoke, fire, and water damage throughout the second floor. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Spokane Fire Department Special Investigations Unit.
