On Monday, April 11, at 5:45 PM, the Spokane Fire Department (SFD) was dispatched to a report of a large building fire at 4511 South Freya. The building is addressed off of South Freya; however, it is located behind the Fieldstone Memory Care Complex and is not apparent due to construction from Freya Street.

The first company arrived within 6-minutes and found smoke emanating from the eves and a partially open bay door from a medium-sized, seemingly active storage building. Subsequently, companies assisted initial firefighters in stretching hose lines into the building to extinguish the fire and simultaneously searching the structure for human victims.

Firefighters successfully limited the damage from the fire to the area of origin and protected the structural components of the building. After an exhaustive search, no victims were located. The incident commander declared the incident under control within 20-minutes.

There were no injuries, and the fire remains under investigation by the SFD Investigation Unit.
