-At approximately 11:45 AM this morning (4/30/22), the Spokane Fire Department (SFD) responded to a residential structure fire in the 2600 block of East Sanson Avenue.

While en route, Fire Communications updated responding companies of numerous phone reports indicating a potential basement fire. The first company arrived just minutes after dispatch and reported moderate smoke emanating from the open front door of a single-family home. Other companies successfully gained entry into the structure to check for fire extension and conduct a search of the interior to ensure no one was inside. Both occupants had evacuated safely before the SFD's arrival.

The fire's damage was limited to the basement and contained within five minutes of the first company's arrival. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries reported due to the fire.

The cause of the fire was determined to be electrical-related.
