Volunteer boards and commissions open vacancies

The City of Spokane is presently accepting applications through November 8, 2013, for the Planning and Development Services Boards and Commissions. It is the policy of the City to utilize citizen boards, commission, committees and other groups to aid the process of effective, responsible and efficient government.

Bicycle Advisory Board – Five Vacancies
Purpose: To provide advice and direction on matters relating to bicycling and to raise public awareness of bicycling issues.

City/County Historic Landmarks Commission – Four Vacancies
Purpose: To provide leadership and expertise on maintaining and enhancing Spokane's historic and architectural heritage.
Open position criteria:

  • Historian
  • City At Large
  • Preservation Construction Specialist
  • Downtown Business Owner of Property Owner

Design Review Board – One Vacancy
Purpose: Ensure Community input into design, standards, creative and innovative development and site planning of public buildings/structures, facilitate a more compact urban environment compatible with the City's Comprehensive Plan. Open position criteria:

  • Civil/Structural Engineer

Northeast Public Development Authority Board – One Vacancy

Purpose: Investing in Community outreach, infrastructure, economic development partnerships and land development within the focus area. Open position criteria:

  • Accountant

Plan Commission – Five Vacancies
Purpose: The Commission shall provide advice and make recommendation on broad planning goals and policies on whichever plans for the physical development of the City that the City Council may request the Commission's advice by Ordinance or Resolution.
