On Wednesday, The Spokane City Council conducted public interviews for the open council position vacated by former Councilmember Steve Salvatori, who resigned his seat last month.

Councilmembers interviewed Adrian Dominguez, Julie Griffith, Eric “EJ” Iannelli, Melanie “Kitty” Klitzke and Karen Stratton at City Hall. The five finalists were selected from a group of 22 applicants for the vacant District 3 council seat.

District 3 encompasses the area north of the Spokane River and west of Division Street. Candidates must have lived in City Council District 3 since Aug. 18, 2013.

The full council, in open session, will vote to fill the vacancy on Aug. 25.
