The City of Spokane’s Lodging Tax Advisory Committee is seeking applications for 2015 lodging tax grants.

Grant funds totaling $100,000 will be divided among projects that promote eligible tourism and cultural activities in the City. The grant money comes from the City’s share of taxes on overnight stays within the City limits.

Applications are due by Monday, Oct. 14, at 5 p.m. in the Office of the Spokane City Council, seventh floor, City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls Blvd. The committee will consider applications in mid-October and is expected to make a recommendation to the City Council later that month.

Grant applications will be evaluated based on a number of criteria, including the:

  • Project’s ability to generate new hotel/motel stays
  • Community economic impact resulting from tourism
  • Potential for long-term impact (such as Bloomsday or Hoopfest)
  • Coordination with community organizations, hotels/motels and other regional entities

Lodging tax funds will not be granted for capital or construction projects.

The grant application and grant notification information are available online.
