The City/County of Spokane Historic Preservation Office is highlighting the region’s many historic barns on its website.

HistoricSpokane.org now features a variety of information on Spokane County Heritage Barns, including the 12 different barn types prevalent in Spokane County as well as a history and photos for each barn listed on the Washington Heritage Barn Register in Spokane County (36 to date). All of the barns listed were built between 1880 and 1955.

The webpage also provides a nomination form for the Heritage Barn Register. The register was created in 2007 to commemorate barns as historically significant resources representing the agricultural, economic, and cultural development of the State of Washington.

The Spokane County Heritage Barns page was inspired by the Spokane Historic Landmarks Commission and created by the City/County Historic Preservation Office.
