A nationwide search is underway for Spokane’s next police chief.

Strategic Government Resources, an executive recruiting firm, has begun seeking applicants for the job with the intent of identifying finalists for the community to meet this summer. Advertisements for the job are running on job boards, industry newsletters and association sites.

“Spokane deserves a chief that can continue our progress toward becoming a model police agency,” said Mayor David Condon. “We are looking for a leader who will build on the momentum that has been established from the community engagements, professional development and partnerships the Spokane Police Department has initiated over the past few years.”

A first review of applications is anticipated in 30 days. The posting and application is available at governmentresources.com. The job is also posted on spokanecity.org. A permanent police chief would be expected to start this summer.

SGR is contacting its network of more than 30,000 law enforcement professionals. Recruitment materials have also been forwarded to Spokane Police Department employees should there be interest in applying from within the department.
