East Sprague business representatives, neighbors, and City representatives will gather at the intersection of Napa and Sprague tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 15, at 4 p.m. to watch the East Sprague Avenue reopen following a major construction project.

The barricades will be removed at that time, allowing vehicles to use East Sprague from Helena to Napa for the evening commute. A first phase of work from Napa to Stone reopened in July.

The project to rehabilitate East Sprague from Helena to Stone streets began on April 3. The project has included an enhanced streetscape, new pedestrian lighting and landscaping, bumpouts at intersections that reduce crossing distances, updated water infrastructure, and new pavement.

A formal ribbon-cutting ceremony for the project will be held on Saturday, Sept. 30, at 12:30 p.m. at Magnolia and Sprague. The ceremony will open the annual Art on the Ave event on East Sprague, which will continue until 6 p.m. More information on Art on the Ave is found at http://artontheavespokane.com/ .
