City Closures Planned For the Holidays

The City of Spokane will have a number of closures related to the holidays. Spokane City Hall will be closed on Monday, Dec. 24, and Tuesdays, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, in observance of Christmas and New Year’s.

City of Spokane garbage pickup and curbside recycling will be a day late following the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. Residents with regular Friday service those weeks will have service on Saturday. The Waste-to-Energy facility will be closed on Tuesdays, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, but open all other days from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Spokane City Council is not scheduled to meet on Mondays, Dec. 24 and 31. Council meetings will resume on Monday, Jan. 7, with a 3:30 p.m. briefing session and 6 p.m. legislative session. Both meetings will be held in the City Council Chambers in the lower level of City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls Blvd.

Parking meters don’t have to be plugged on Tuesdays, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. And, the Spokane Municipal Court will be closed on Tuesdays, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

All Spokane Public Library branches will be closed Sunday through Tuesday, Dec. 23 to 25, for the Christmas holiday and on Tuesday, Jan. 1, for the New Year’s holiday. For events at the library during the holidays, including New Year’s Eve parties, go to the events calendar.

Meanwhile, the Riverfront Spokane Skate Ribbon will have extended holiday hours from Saturday, Dec. 22, to Sunday, Jan. 6. The Looff Carrousel and SkyRide will proceed with their usual hours of operation. All Riverfront Spokane attractions will be closed on Christmas Day.
