??At 10:14 AM this morning, the Spokane Fire Department (SFD) responded to a 911 call reporting an adult male that was struck by a vehicle's driveshaft and injured. The first FD company arrived in four minutes and reported the victim was actually trapped beneath a large commercial vehicle, pulseless, and non-breathing.

Recognizing the challenge of moving the large vehicle from the victim, the incident commander wasted no time in requesting an extrication response that summoned two extrication companies, paramedics, management, and support resources. However, anticipating the natural delay, the teams on-scene devised a method to lift the vehicle improvising equipment and tools found at the scene to safely lift the vehicle enough to pull the victim to safety.

They were successful in removing the victim within 3-minutes and immediately started advanced life-saving procedures. Despite the lengthy resuscitation efforts by SFD Paramedics, the victim was declared dead on-scene.
