The Association of Washington Cities (AWC) recently elected new officers to the AWC Board of Directors, selecting Spokane City Councilmember Betsy Wilkerson as its most recent Vice President for 2022-2023.

“It is an honor to serve Eastern Washington and work with other elected officials across the state to build relationships and meet the unique challenges that we have in our region and our state,” said Councilmember Betsy Wilkerson.

Councilmembers appointed Councilmember Zack Zappone to fill the Spokane District 9 AWC representative seat vacated by Councilmember Wilkerson.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to represent Spokane on the AWC Board, “said Councilmember Zack Zappone. “I look forward to collaborating with other cities to address issues affecting all of us, like housing and homelessness.”

AWC serves its members through advocacy, education, and services. Founded in 1933, AWC is a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan corporation representing Washington's cities and towns before the state legislature, executive branch, and regulatory agencies. Membership is voluntary, however AWC consistently maintains 100 percent participation from Washington’s 281 cities and towns.
