Travelers will experience traffic impacts in the downtown area starting Monday, April 10. Motorists are urged to plan ahead, allow for extra time, and look for frequent detour changes.
City of Spokane asks the community to remember these things:
Riverside Ave. Project Completion
Crews will begin the final portion of Phase III of the Riverside Ave. grind and overlay project between Stevens St. and Wall St. on Monday, April 10. This is a continuation and completion of the 2022 project that was suspended due to weather.
What to Expect:
East Wellesley Ave. between Haven St. and Market St.
Detours and lane reductions are in place for travelers in northeast Spokane. Work is being done to increase capacity and replace water infrastructure in conjunction with WSDOT’s North Spokane Corridor improvements.
Thor-Freya Corridor
Crews are finishing up punch-list items between Sprague Ave. and Hartson Ave. on Thor St. and Freya St. and replacing temporary markings with permanent striping. These are a continuation of the 2022 project.
What to Expect:
North A St. between Rowan Ave. and Francis Ave.
As part of the City’s 2023 Grind and Overlay list of projects, A St. will be closed in both directions between Rowan Ave. and Francis Ave. in northwest Spokane. Detours will be in place rerouting traffic to Alberta St. The project is estimated to be completed Wednesday, April 19, weather permitting.
North Monroe St. Permanent Striping
Northbound and southbound traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction on north Monroe St. between Summit Blvd. and Boone Ave. The final start date is dependent on weather temperatures, installation has been delayed and is now scheduled to begin April 17. This work is to install permanent striping to the new surface as part of the 2022 grind and overlay project. Due to weather, temporary striping was used through the winter.
