The City of Spokane’s new non-emergency call system is officially live. Starting today, October 27, people who need non-emergency assistance within Spokane city limits should dial 3-1-1.
The transition moves calls previously handled by Crime Check to the City’s existing 311 line, creating a streamlined way for residents to connect with City services and report non-emergency concerns. This includes calls for suspicious activity, a crime no longer in progress, or other incidents that do not require an immediate emergency response.
311 remains the number to call to be connected to City of Spokane services, including utility billing information, pothole reports, outreach services, and Parks and Recreation programs. If the 311 short dial does not go through or callers are outside of Spokane City limits, they can call 509-755-CITY(2489) to connect to Spokane 311.
Residents should always dial 9-1-1 for emergencies requiring immediate police, fire, or medical response.
The milestone of transitioning non-emergency calls from Crime Check to Spokane 311 is part of Spokane’s broader work to develop its own emergency communications system, known as the Spokane United 911 Network (SUN 911).
“This is an important step in making it easier for people to connect with the City of Spokane,” Mayor Lisa Brown said. “By integrating non-emergency police and fire calls into our existing 311 number, we are creating a more direct and streamlined path for residents to get help and information they need, while continuing to reserve 911 for emergencies.”
