City declares Stage 1 snow event

The City declared a Stage 1 snow event on Sunday afternoon. Cars on residential hill routes should be moved to the odd side of the street by 10 p.m. to allow plows to come through.

A snowstorm steadily increased in intensity during the early afternoon Sunday. Deicers, sanders and plows were working all over the city. A total of 22 pieces of equipment were out in the late afternoon.

Resources were focused on the arterials, hills and bus routes. Plows will move to the residential hill routes overnight.

The City monitors weather conditions around the clock during the snow season and deploys resources accordingly. You can find the city’s snow plan here. Once residential hill plowing starts, you can follow the progress online using the city’s snow plow map.

The City’s snow line is 509.456.2666. Snow updates are also available on the City Cable 5 metroguide. You can also sign up to receive text messaging at 509.385.5775.
