Tell us what you think about the YARD

Come hear how the Northeast PDA and the City are working to revitalize The YARD, and create new jobs, new development, and other economic opportunities in the area. The Northeast Public Development Authority, Spokane Chamber of Commerce and the City Council are hosting a public kick-off event Wednesday, September 10th from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Northeast Community Center to talk about the project to bring positive changes to the Hillyard area.

Board members and stakeholders will be discussing what has happened and what will happen in THE YARD. Whether you're a 'Hillyardan' or an interested member of the public, come and listen and offer your feedback. This is your neighborhood and we tirelessly research, plan and draft tedious grant proposals for the people, by the people. We would love to hear your ideas for the place you live. If at 5:30 p.m. on 10th day of September you find yourself by the Northeast Community Center, stop in.

The City has also contracted a consultant to implement a recently awarded $100,000 Brownfield Marketing Grant. ECONorthwest, which specializes in economics, finance and planning, has been selected to:

  • Develop a business plan for the Northeast Public Development Authority (NEPDA)
  • Create a development strategy that NEPDA will use to the cleanup of brownfields in "The YARD"
  • Evaluate the creation of a "Brownfields Redevelopment Zone"
  • Analyze the area to figure out the best land uses
  • Create the financial tools and economic development incentives to attract these best uses
  • Create marketing materials for "The YARD" that NEPDA will use to promote the sale and redevelopment of properties throughout "The YARD"

ECONorthwest's project manager, Morgan Shook, will be at the public kick-off at the Northeast Community Center to participate in the discussion and we invite you, the local experts, to join the talk.

WHEN: Wednesday, September 10th, 5:30 – 7:30 PM
WHERE: The Northeast Community Center
WHAT: Public discussion of planning in the YARD
WHO: Northeast PDA, Chamber of Commerce, City Council, ECONorthwest, and You!
